The movie title screen uses MASH, but the poster and all of the taglines use MAS*H, and the TV show seems to be consistent in using the asterisks.
Just wondering - is the title screen in a film always the official title? It's what IMDb is using here. I had always thought Ghost Busters was Ghostbusters, but I know the title screen and IMDb both have Ghost Busters. The movie poster has Ghostbusters, though.
I've completely lost my short term

I think MASH is the official title. The asteriks were probably added by the marketing
guys. I think it was used from the start, but my memory is hazy(LOL). Looking through
the posters in the in the photos section you have some international posters using
M.A.S.H. which would make sense since it's an acronym.

The film and show were produced by different people so I guess just a different creative decision.
