This episode came home to roost in my son's family. He and his wife had applied for a few new houses to rent after securing a fantastic new job. Together they could not qualify because of her credit history. He then applied without her and had no trouble renting a house that was only slightly more expensive. It is 1000 sq. ft. larger because it's not in coastal California.
I don't understand how it was.
Definitely do NOT want to live in Russia!
Neither do I, but there are worse places. North Korea is probably the worst.

Recently they showed a TV-docu about the horrible and cannibalistic "Donner Party"
Recently I watched a documentary on Amazon Prime called
Cannibal Island
. Russians were sent there in the 30s for crimes as petty as leaving their papers at home. Many tried to escape, but it was so remote that there was no place to go. The inmates were not provided with any of the basics of life.

Ahhhhh…wasn't able anymore to connect the house with Charlie Chaplin.
Really a great movie!
Unforgotten the classic scene when he's eating his shoes.
Recently they showed a TV-docu about the horrible and cannibalistic "Donner Party".
Though nobody needs to starve here, evermore people camp in parks and even many native Germans spend winter times in the subway…homeless.
The development started years ago, before mass immigration.
Something's very wrong here.
And now that ugly war in Ukraine. ☻
Ok ok, won't go that sad path down now.
Your son is lucky to have a caring father.
And Charlie Chaplin made many fantastic movies.
My favourite scene stays the one in
Modern Times
…
…time for another coffee and 2nd buddy-breakfast
.
They lie around in the morning-sun.
We'll enjoy life as long as possible!

Oh ok, didn't know you want to get rid of him and his tent.
Neither did I! He wasn't living with me. He was in the tent until he could find a house for his whole family who stayed behind in California.
BTW, that precarious house is from
The Gold Rush (1925)
, one of Charlie Chaplin's best.
Yah, according to rumours it's very affordable in Romania.

Hmmm…perhaps you can convince your son to come back?
I had been trying to get him to leave for over twelve years! I saw him yesterday–a day trip! California is the least affordable of The States. Maybe New York is even worse. Opinions?
A deluxe tent with enough space for his whole family may help?
