Van Johnson made a break for it.
Mac yelled for Sally to hide. She did.
Johnson pulls away in the truck.
OOPS! That's where Sally hid, in the back!
So now Mac is running after them, to get Johnson and get Sally back.
NOW!
As I watched this, I thought about what if she had jumped out. Yes, that could be dangerous. Don't think she was pregnant here. But she could have been an able-bodied woman to get herself out of this unexpected dangerous situation with the bad guy and jump clear.
IF SHE DID, if you were SALLY, would you want Mac to stop, pat your hand, pick you up and put you in the jeep with him and continue on?
OR would you want him to go after the bad guy, and come back for you later?
AND IF YOU WERE MAC, would you stop and pick up Sally, making sure she was okay, or would you continue after the bad guy and come back for her?

Actually, Sally was VERY pregnant in this episode. There was a whole discussion at the beginning with Mildred where they were discussing what clothes she was going to take with her, since many of her maternity clothes were at the Cleaners.
