OK Ethel didn't think her husband had been gassing and strangling Beryl but if my husband had tried to perform an abortion on another tenant under the pretext of being a onetime medical student I would maybe think 'What the beep

Yes she may have been absent during the pretend abortion but the point is when Tim came home
& Christie said it's bad news it didn't work, ethyl is standing right there with them. She heard
Christie saying "it didn't work" so why when in court when Christie is being questioned
About "did u say u were a doctor" etc. When Christie says no, why didn't ethyl stand up & say "your lying"
She knew he lied so why didn't she stand up & say that's not true.

Yes i always got confused by this - Ethyl was there when Tim got home & Christie told him on the stirs it was bad news and it didn't work. Ethyl was crying so she knew of course that her husband had attempted his pretend abortion i mean.
BUT:
when she was in court, and christie gave his evidence he completely denied telling Tim about the abortion & how he was a medical man etc.
Why didnt ethyl stand up & say 'Thats a lie' to her husband in court & why didnt she back up TIM??????
