<p dir="auto">There's lots of theories about this film - did the lorry represent the devil? Perhaps it didn't really exist and was just a symbol of all his fears chasing him (his disintegrating marriage - work problems). Or perhaps it was man's first encounter with an autonomous truck that had been programmed by some errant NASA / MIT employee.<br />
It's great film - I first saw it around 1973 as part of a double bill (the other film was Pete 'n' Tilly  - perhaps a strange choice but then again like Pete 'n' Tilly Duel could be seen as another dysfunctional relationship).<br />
Made before Steven became the king of sugar.</p>

<p dir="auto">The actual driver could have been in David Mann's imagination and he tried to 'normalize' the situtaion.</p>
