Despite the dire 'acting' skills of the five actresses in this otherwise great film, I still love it.
Why weren't better actresses employed for this big budget film, when they afforded Caine, Hendry, Osborne (actor/author) and others? These gormless and dour women (with crapper accents) could well have ruined the show.

Well, Margaret's accent dodged between geordie, Yorkshire and God knows what
Edna's was good, even though she is a Scottish actress, I guess.
Doreen barely spoke, but was an awful actress.
The wild tart who was crammed into the sports car boot, a Scottish actress, did a dire Geordie or posh English voice.

How were the actresses'accents "crap"?
I don't know the Newcastle accent so were their accent incorrect?
Newcastle in the late '60's seemed to be a downtrodden place untouched by the economic gains enjoyed by the South.

These women weren't lewd enough. Non of the sexual exploits seem lewd enough after the graphic dirty picture show in the beginning. This film could've been really great hadn't it been so restrained.
