<p dir="auto">Anyone feel that because it's Pacino (at his most youthful and puppy dog-eyed as well), you end up finding Bobby appealing when really he's a sh*t? We see him steal, be abusive to Helen, cause her puppy to get itself killed and basically mug that poor teenage dork Helen whores herself out to. Not to mention sucking her into becoming a junkie. If he was played by someone else, he would be hateful.</p>

<p dir="auto">No she's right.  You need a talented actor, especially a charismatic one to pull off an unlikeable character.  Any other current actor would make you loathe the guy, but Pacino manages to pull off charm still despite playing a loser.</p>
