If you were given a contract on someone, would you leave it in a drawer in that person's house? I love all Bronson films, but you really have to suspend your disbelief in this one.

It could be construed as a kind of loose writing, but it is a big house and I think it's also kind of indicative in demonstrating Steve is not the complete professional Bishop is, or that perhaps he thinks he is himself, as we find confirmed at the end.
