And Roddy McDowall's character was "Apers" in the parody, an obvious nod to his work in "Planet of the Apes". MAD really did a good job on those things.

Every time I see the Poseidon Adventure I remember the line from the MADD Parody.
Rev Scott to Akers after the capsize; "Are you okay?"
Akers:"I think I hurt my leg."
Scott: "Aren't you sure."
Akers "I don't know, anyone see a leg down there?"

Oh my goodness, I remember that! In fact, I've been trying to find my copy of that (and the Towering Inferno parody issue) for years! I can't find them anywhere. I'm so mad!! This were the funniest parodies they ever did!!!
I thought the Poopside Down Adventure was one of their better parodies.

The PoopSide Down Adventure and The Towering Sterno were great send ups in Mad but the best was Mirthquake, not sure why it took so long to come out, it was in Mad in 1976 the copy which also had Jaws.Yes miss the Mad send ups, they were great.

I like the scene when the kid is recused from the restroom. Rev. Scott says something like "I know you had to go, but did you have to flush!?" I always say that when I see that scene.

The best was The Towering Inferno when they're breaking out windows and the woman asks why a guy broke out so many. He said, "Lady, they're like potato chips. Once you get started, you can't break just one."
Or something like that. It's been a while. But I remember itin generalI guessobviously not reallynever mind.
