I haven't seen this movie in years and years, but the one memory to stick out are the direct connections households have to businesses etc. through TV screens. I recall the scene where Carol is shopping for a Christmas tree from home and is shown a variety to choose from by the salesperson she's dealing with. That futuristic set up is so similar to today's internet.

The more I study it, the greater the puzzle becomes.

Yeah, buying stuff off of TV in this movie was indeed an uncannily accurate prediction of the Home Shopping Network. The scene with Oliver Reed researching premature child births on a computer was likewise an equally accurate prediction of people looking up info on stuff on the internet. As far as 1970's future shock sci-fi movies are concerned, this one gets more stuff right than most other entries in the genre.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.

Yes, it's almost like she's shopping. From home. Through some sort of Home Shopping Network. Or something.
No one could have seen that coming way back in 1971.
