When Richard is deep in concentration he sticks his lips out like a duck. Did Gene or any panel member ever say anything about it on air? I wonder if it was a nervous habit or if he thought it made him look smarter.
Or perhaps he was practicing puckering his lips for an upcoming smooch!

It does look like a duck. I never noticed it until last week when Buzzr started showing up on my TV. Other than that he's cool
Mag, Darling, you're being a bore.

I don't think he intentionally planned the thing with the lips.
Respectfully disagree. I think that he figured that it made him look smart.

I don't think he intentionally planned the thing with the lips. Maybe your last comment was close: it could be interpreted by some as a gesture of sexiness

I wonder if it was a nervous habit or if he thought it made him look smarter.
Both in Dawson's case, and it's just as tiresome as Brett's singing and weird comments.
Richard thought it made him look cute.
It seems to be a really bad habit among Brits.
Kind of like Prince Charles always adjusting his shirt cuffs.
