We overthrew their democratically elected prime minister in 1953, installed the brutal dictatorship of the Shah (1953-79), shot down an Iranian passenger plane in 1988 killing 290 people, supported Iraq in the Iran-Iraq war during the 1980s, and then Trump killed their leading general in 2020.
And now US weapons are being used to destroy Tehran.
