I saw this movie recently on Encore and it had some great action scenes. As with most movies based on real life events, I looked up the main characters to see how true to life the story is. Unfortunately, the final chapters of the movie, especially dealing with the deaths of Dillenger's gang cohorts, rings completely false. The movie makes the police seem like murdering vigilantes. Granted, they probably weren't angels, but I couldn't find any information to back up the execution-style deaths in the streets and fields.

Also note that Tom Brown was known as being extremely crooked - he had Syndicate connections and reportedly collaborated with the Barker-Karpis gang in several in their kidnapping plots.

Do a little researh on pretty boy floyd. The police pretty much were murdering thugs. However the one example of the police being courageous as well as honorable, ironically was the death of babyface nelson who in reality killed the agents who killed him.

I'm doing my major history report about rum running in Saint Paul, Minnesota where Dillinger spent much of his time. Just from the quotes I can tell that this movie made its own history. Billie Frechette testified that Dillinger didn't tell her his real name for awhile after meeting her. As for cornfield deaths, "Pretty Boy" Floyd was killed in this way.
