Watched this again tonight with the wife (her first time) I still crack up at the camp fart scene like a school boy , and am glad to say , so did the wife.

That's because farts are funny - if done at the right time / place.
As in, you are at a funeral for someone who died tragically. There is a quiet pause in the service and you lean over and rip one like the guys in this movie. That isn't funny.
But, if someone is holding a baby and during that quiet pause the baby rips one, that can make everyone laugh hysterically and remind us all that even in the worst of times there is humor in the world.
