Certain sources claim the gargoyle resembles Alfred Hitchcock, others describe it looking like Mel Brooks. Some say the gargoyle can be seen shortly after the dart match scene, while others indicate you can see it while Igor is playing his musical instrument on the castle tower (the final shot of the movie).
Can anybody clarify who the gargoyle was modeled after and when can we see "him?"
Thanks in advance!

The answer is Mel Brooks. It was decided he shouldn't be in the movie as it would be a distraction, so his likeness appeared. He also made the sound of a cat being stabbed by the dart, the wolf on the way to the castle, and one or two more instances that were thrown in or ad libbed.
