Hey, guess what, bud? Not every veteran is/was a Conservative. Some are gasp liberal, or at least Democrats yikes. Republicans don't have a stronghold on the entirety of the military. Of the last two major party candidates to have actually served in a theatre of war, one (McCain) is a Republican, and one (Kerry) is a Democrat. Not to toot my own horn, but I am a veteran and lean left myself. Not blindly (I hope), but I value a liberal ethos within reason. It's beyond bizarre to me that types such as yourself get behind Trump wholesale when he begged out of service himself for "bone spurs."
