<p dir="auto">I must have seen this movie at least 5 times over the years.  How did I never notice the two cars driving in reverse as Sue walks in front of the remains of Carries house.  Creepy as hell.  I'm guessing It was used to convey a dream state.  Funny how you can pick up on different things each time you watch a film.</p>

<p dir="auto">Brian DePalma filmed this sequence in slow motion in reverse. He found that it gave an eerie dreamlike quality to the sequence when the film was reversed.<br />
In reality, Amy Irving was walking backwards. The scene was filmed in slow motion, then reversed so it appears that she is walking forward, which explains the cars moving backwards.<br />
Notice that there is a 'ghost like' glow around Irving. This was what DePalma wanted.</p>
