If a anyone wants to discuss
Alfred Hitchcock Presents
, this is the place to do it. They're airing it on MeTV weeknights, with back to back episodes starting at 1AM. It's a bit late for most of us but better late than never.
It's starting the third season now and it's a very satisfying old black and white anthology. Among my favorite episodes are
The Older Sister
and
The Creeper
, both from the first season.
I find the show best when it's near to film
Noir
, not so great when it deals with domestic strife and, especially, murder. I think I must have seen at the very least a half-dozen wives murdered.
The show was filmed on the Republic back lot, for its first few seasons anyway, and this gives it a somewhat cheap look, but this works in its favor in the urban episodes. Overall, a classic series, and it deserve more respect.
I hope others will join in and keep the faith alive.
