John Barry's score is absolutely perfect.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.

I've heard much better from John Barry (Out of Africa, Dances With Wolves), but the guy virtually never disappoints. Fantastic score. Wish the rest of the film were up to snuff, but all in all it's a picture I enjoy.

I do, too. I've loved this film ever since I was a child. Yes, it's flawed, but somehow as a child and happily still, as an adult, I can see past that. The music is outstanding and gives the film tremendous appeal.

You can't go wrong with a John Barry soundtrack, IMO.

I've always enjoyed this version; not as good as the '33 version, but still a vastly underrated film in its own right.

Agree.
One of the first 'real' movies I watched as a kid. It's silly and campy now but still watchable. Truly, John Barry's unforgettable score does so much for this flick!

Yeah Max Steiner's King Kong 1933 score is considered the grandfather of the movie score and the most revolutionary (there were not scores in movies like that before)but John Barry's 1976 score is also excellent.

I don't know if I'd go so far as to say it's the best Kong score everMax Steiner's classic score is tough to beat. But this one's really, really good.

I saw this at the theater when it was released, and that music score is what I enjoyed and remembered the most. Liked it so much I went out and bought the L.P. Not crazy about the movie in general, but the score is incredible.

This is my favorite version. I guess the oil crisis story appeals to me more than the island being a nice place to shoot a movie. I dunno, maybe there's more to it than that, been a little while since I've seen it all the way through.
