we see Rip Torn's character for the first time, as he's walking out of school? I think that it's at the beginning of chapter 3 on the Blu-ray. The music is also in the trailer for its 35 year re-release. The music starts at 0.44:

Sadly, the "Bryce" that is on the new bonus CD for the Blu Ray is not the track that was in the film. It is a country tune, assume one that Phillips composed but was not used in the movie. After all these years and a double CD and a bonus CD, still no proper "Bryce". Maybe It's lost. Soul crushing.

The track you are looking for is on the bonus CD that is part of the
40th anniversary blu-ray box set:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fell-Earth-Anniversary-Collectors-Blu-ray/dp/B01JYZ9N2C/ref=pd_sim_14_4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=N472D80WPM9EKREHM711
It's track 14,, called 'Bryce'.

It is listed on IMDB in the soundtrack section:
Devil's On the Loose
(instrumental) written by John Phillips
Song is used as the "Nathan Bryce" theme when his character is first introduced on a college campus.
