If you could make a more modern, updated reboot/re-imagining/remake/re-telling of this old, outdated live action science-fiction T.V. series, how would you do it?
I think that it was a great concept but personally, in my honest opinion, it was horribly executed.
My version of the sci-fi story of the Fantastic Journey would be very similar to the original 1977 television show but instead of making it cheesy, corny and lame with all of the late 1970s disco music-styled aesthetics, I would make it more like Doctor Who, with the main characters traveling to various other dimensions, spaces and times using dimensional, spatial and temporal apertures that are created by advanced, alien, ancient technology, and the Atlanteans that exist in Atlantis inside of the other limbo-like dimension inside of the Bermuda Triangle are trying to prevent the alien race that is the same human-like, humanoid species that Liana's mother is a member of from using the apertures that were created by the advanced machines that the hostile aliens had invented to try to attack, and invade the Planet Earth in the past, the present and the future.
To this end, the Atlanteans send the half-Atlantean on her father's side, half-alien on her mother's side super-human mutant hybrid named Liana to use her part-Atlantean, part-alien crossbreed super-human mental and physical powers to try to find advanced, alien, ancient weaponry that can be used to defend Atlantis and the Atlanteans, just as well as protect the Planet Earth, and save the human race from the aliens attempting to try to either conquer the Planet Earth and enslave the human race or destroy the Planet Earth, and exterminate the human race if they can't. The aliens are trying to either accomplish the ambition of multiversal domination or achieve the goal of multiversal genocide.
Liana and her artificially created, genetically engineered, synthetic cat-like animoid named Sil-El, dimension, space and time travel to the Planet Earth, specifically to the continent of North America, in the area that is the former United States of America, where they both encounter the artificially created, genetically engineered, synthetic human-like humanoid named Varian, in the year 2230 A.D.
In that world, the Planet Earth was destroyed by a global thermonuclear war and the survivors are ruled by mega-corporations instead of governments. The cities are extremely scientifically advanced and highly technologically powerful. Varian is a genetically-made corporate warrior deliberately designed to be physically invincible. Liana, Sil-El and Varian accidentally encounter one of the extremely scientifically advanced weapons that she was supposed to find. The highly technologically powerful paraphernalia is then taken by Varian and he dimension, space and time travels back to Atlantis through the apertures with Liana, and Sil-El.
The three of them continue on their assigned mission, traveling to the Planet Earth, specifically in the continent of North America, in the country of the United States of America, in South Miami Beach, Florida, in the present, where they meet young Medical Doctor and General Practitioner Dr. Frederick "Fred" Walters, M.D., and the well-regarded and world-reknowned scientific genius in theoretical dimension travel, space travel and time travel physics, Dr. Paul Jordan, Ph. D., and his family, his wife Mrs. Jordan and their only child, 13-year-old boy genius and child prodigy Scott Jordan. Scott is the brilliantly clever son of Dr. and Mrs. Jordan and he is following in his father's footsteps as a quantum mechanical physicist. They go on a boat ride to the Bermuda Triangle in order to not only tour it but to also see if the alleged so-called "distortions in reality and in the space/time continuum" so-to-speak that have been reported in the "Devil's Triangle" are indeed true. The boat is then captured by the aliens, who have come looking for the high-tech device and/or equipment and/ or instrument that Varian has become psychically linked with called the Sonic Energizer.
Varian uses the Sonic Energizer to both empower and enhance the machine with ambient sonic energy or sound waves in the atmosphere, and then energize the psionic energy in Liana's brain so that her psychic powers are enhanced a hundredfold. She gains a super-human level of intellect, the telepathic and empathic power to control the minds and hearts of other people, and the power to psychokinetically move objects through the use of mental force alone. Using her goddess-like powers, she easily and quickly defeated the aliens, and protected Dr. Fred Walters and the Jordan family. The Jordans and Varian travel to Atlantis with Liana and Sil-El. Liana's powers having returned to their normal levels. She once again only has genius-level intelligence, can only telepathically project her own thoughts into the minds of other people and read the minds of other people, and empathically project her own feelings into the hearts of
