The other thing I remember about Varian was that he was a gentle non-violent type of person and I think came from an Earth future where everyone was peace-loving and kind and I think that he was a doctor in his own time and that is why he had that tuning fork thing that he could cure people with (but my memory is really vague on this show (although I must have been about 14 when it came out) so I could be imagining all of this because I haven't seen it since it's first showing.

From what I recall of the series, he was a pilot of sorts from the future (star ship???, not disclosed if I remember correctly). He was in the premier movie & the series. I believe he was there until the end. If you enjoyed him here, try him in War of the Worlds, the Second Invasion. The first season is okay for the 80s but the last season (that got panned by critics) have a continous & rational story line.
