<p dir="auto">In a later episode - once Burt is Sheriff, Chester and Dutch are at the Sheriff's office and the discussion mentions them being there for their weekly meeting with their probation officer.<br />
But the embezzlement and murder charges seem to be forgotten about, for all intents and purposes, once Chester escapes from jail.</p>

<p dir="auto">I think when they proved he was sick, he was no longer responsible for those charges or for finishing out his sentence for murder.</p>
