Could anyone recommend films as good as Communion/Alice Sweet Alice, please?
From my own, no doubt limited to some extent knowledge, there aren't many films as good as this that you can find
ANY horror films or chillers that you think are as good. Obscure, or not. A modern horror I thought was good was Stir of Echoes, for instance, although this one has a rawer and more authentic quality to it somehow.

The original Black Christmas. The original Prom Night. These two come to mind because they are classic "whodunnit" movies that are a true treat the first time you see them.

Check out the Confessional by british Director Pete Walker, it is a 70's horror flick with a bleak ending. I rented it off of netflix, the transfer is'nt to good but it is a real good film, the film could be a cousin of Alice Sweet Alice.

Yes, Changeling is good and so is a little known 1970s made for TV horror movie called "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark"
http://www.imdb.com/board/10069992/
which is apparently being remade at the moment.

if you liked this one, you would probably like "The Changeling". the one from the 70s, not the angelina one. there is a scary wheelchair scene that is still the scariest I have ever seen. very creepy spooky.

You should definitely check out "Don't Look Now (1973)", which was a major inspiration for "Alice Sweet Alice". It's also a very good movie, artfully directed. Just try not to read anybody's description of the movie, or even talk to anybody who has seen it, because there is a very shocking plot twist at the end, and many people just casually mention it as if it's no big deal.

An amazing movie. Like Alice, it feels otherworldly. Not exactly horror, but one of my top ten all time, and so far as I am aware completely unique.

I've only seen clips of Alice Sweet Alice, but I would think that Stephen King's, CARRIE, with Sissy Spacek, would be similar in feel.
