Everyone who watched the show as a kid was glad when Sam got kidnapped by the man with the beard in the “serious” episode of the show. That would have been the perfect way to write him out of the show. Unfortunately, Sam was found and the bearded man went to prison.

OK, so here goes:
The Drummonds move to L.A., the year is 1991; Sam's bigger now, and hangs out with a delinquent kid who robs ATM's with an Atari pocket computer.
They head over to the Sherman Oaks Galleria; a cop is looking for Sam's friend, John; Nikki Cox from Unhappily Ever After and Las Vegas tells him she saw Sam and his friend head over to the Galleria.
Sam and his friend go to the video arcade, but the cop shows up; Sam tries to tell the cop his friend John is not around, but the cop knows better; the cop spots John, and his arm turns into a sword and stabs Sam, killing him, then goes after John.

Arnold and Willis take him to Harlem, they come back without him.
No one ever speaks of him again.
Sometimes a movie or tv show plot is so stupid that only the stupid can understand it.

Just off the top of my head: Force him to drink bleach. Push him down the stairs. Push him off the balcony. Stab him in his bed and let him bleed out. Take him to the Bronx and sell him to a gang. Drop a brick from the top of the living room stairs landing on his head as he walked by. Tie him to the spiral staircase in the kitchen wrapped in bacon and let a pack of dogs go at him. Toaster in the bathtub. Overdose with Kimberly.

Every kid hoped that Sam would have remained with the kidnapper and effectively been written off the show. That would have been a great serious episode which exposed the horrors of little kids trusting strangers.
Another good way to write Sam off the show would have been if he had been horsing around on the balcony and accidentally fallen off. There was also an episode where Sam kept peeing his bed - they could have har him dying from being electrocuted by an electric blanket. Or perhaps the family went to the zoo and just left him there because they were sick of him being so annoying?
