Of course, like the Gooch, his sister was only referenced, not seen. It was the episode with Arnold's cricket, Lucky, which he let the Gooch borrow as a good-luck charm for his history test which the Gooch passed. At the end of that episode, the Gooch called Arnold in appreciation by setting up his sister on a date with him. As soon as Arnold hung up the phone, he told his family the bad news and then sarcastically quipped, "How'd you like to be seen in public with a girl who's shaped like a hairy avocado?" Roll credits That line would not fly today in this snowflake society, which is a shame, because I laughed so hard when Arnold said that.

In the very first episode where Arnold's bully was referenced, Mr. Drummond mispronounced it as the "Girch." Funny stuff. I love when sitcoms incorporate unseen characters into storylines, such as Norm Peterson's wife, Niles' Crane's wife, Tim Taylor's next-door neighbor Wilson, Al Bundy's mother-in-law, and Howard Wolowitz's mother. The Gooch is my favorite, I guess because of how hideous looking he's supposed to be. No shade to the other sitcoms, but being fat and unseen is just lazy writing.

I don't remember those details but the name Gooch rings a bell.
You are right about that line.
The days of ugly shaming as a joke are gone.

That catchphrase completely overshadowed Willis' "Run that by me again" which Arnold also said when the Gooch first asked him to take out his sister. Just the puzzled look on Arnold's face as he said that, was laughable in itself, as well as originally with Willis. Although, I love when Arnold said "What'choo talkin' 'bout, Will?" to Will Smith on the series finale of "Fresh Prince" ten years after "Diff'rent Strokes" was cancelled. Second place goes to the "Romeo & Juliet" episode of DS where Arnold said "What thou talking about, Juliet?" to his nemesis, Lisa, who got stage fright at the school play and didn't say the right line to Arnold. EPIC!
