Season 1's "I Want to Keep My Baby" (which was the same title as a made for television movie starring Mariel Hemingway a year or two earlier)had that "baby" crying every time Herb walked in and it was absolutely the most annoying rendition of a baby crying I have ever heard. Or probably ever will.

I think they did it for comedic purposes. I was never annoyed by it at all.
