I hope to never see Gandolfini playing Bluto. or a psychotic exterminator ('Crimewave').
And I'm 99% sure he doesn't speak Turkish, whereas Mr. Smith got the role specifically because he does, fluently.
I like Gandolfini in some roles but I can't stand the Sopranos. I think it's been ruined for me by too many people who forget that it's only a TV show and not a bunch of their personal friends. Nothing about the mafia is likely to ever surpass 'Goodfellas'/'Wiseguy' imho, and the cheesy accents and stereotypes on 'Sopranos' really bug me, especially Gandolfini's strained Brando impression.
