I love this one !
maby it's because I loved it so much when I was a kid, I remember laughing so hard I cried, at the theater ?
maby it's the great cast, the feel, the score ?
the facination of not being able to get the long version of it, also kept me interested, all these years.
I finaly got it on DVD, and I'm still very fond of it.
I can see why this one flopped in the US, it probably was more succesful in Europa, where people could just enjoy it as a crazy comedy.
badgers ? Badgers ??!! WE DON'T NEED NO STINKIN' BADGERS !!!!

This film was terribleterribly funnyin fact, this was one of the funniest movies of it's era. Only, Spielberg could assemble a cast of stars like these, and get them to act crazy, silly, goofy, sexy, serious, patriotic and stoic all in the same movie. I have seen this film in the theater when it first premired, and several times since, on the big and smalll screen. It is still funny years later.

This is one of the most brilliant films ever made. People that don't understand that period of time will fail to see a great deal of the humor in the film.
America put the "fun" back into "Fundamentalism".

This is not Spielberg's worst. Not by a long shot. I think Hook or Always rank far lower in my book. 1941 has John Belushi in it. He left us to soon for me to call this a dud.
