It still STINKS !!! What a boring, unfunny movie. Didn't laugh once, and I laughed at Platoon.

It's a long time since I saw 1941 but I remember it had some good sequences, it just wasn't funny. I don't think Steve ever attempted another comedy again.
How many good World War II war comedies have there been? None. Ever.
What about Kelly's Heroes? I think even Spielberg likes that film as he borrowed from the ending for Saving Private Ryan.
I'm gonna go watch Close Encounters and try to forget about this experience.
You know I could never buy in to Close Encounters. I want to like it but I just find it uninteresting. It's well made and looks fantastic but it's just not my cup of tea. When I watch it I just enjoy it's cinematography.

One of the worst movies I've ever suffered through. Spielberg should feel embarrassed about this mess.
I finally watched the whole thing tonight. I had tried on several previous occasions to watch it but never made it past 20 minutes. Tonight I persevered. Ugh
First of all, the channel we watched it on {mgm classics I think} didn't include any subtitles for the Japanese, we never knew what they said. And I couldn't figure out if this movie was supposed to be a comedy or war movie or slapstick or satire or what. It was all over the place. Like they threw a bunch of crop on the wall to see what sticked.
Explosions don't equate to laughs. Belushi was wasted here (probably while filming, too). Akroid was bad. Matheson bad. Ned Beatty bad. Pickens bad. All bad. None good.
How many good World War II war comedies have there been? None. Ever.
An insult to the audience. An affront to the senses. A turd for the toilet.
I'm gonna go watch Close Encounters and try to forget about this experience.
