Side note = despite Sci-Fi being one of my favourite film genres, I have never actually watched a film in this franchise lol.
But I was watching a Youtube run down of the timeline just nao, and it seems like they hop all over the time line with the 6 movies.
Obviously, **** filmed in the ****ing 70s is gunna look different than **** filmed in 2023 , especially set design.
In this timeline, the PAST looks way more technologically advanced than the future, at least from clips that i have seen from the movies lol

The series actually had a linear and straightforward timeline until Hollywood **** the bed after being infected with spin-off and prequel-itis.
Basically Prometheus ****ed up the whole continuity and now nothing about the series makes sense.
The first four Alien movies all had the same retro-futuristic, industrial future, and then Ridley Scott decided that his prequels for some reason should look like Lost in Space.

No I never noticed but you do have a point. The difference is so slight though. It can be easily explained like for instance the Sulaco could have been a cheap ship so that's why it doesn't look as expensive as some of the other ships in the movies made after Alien.
