When i saw this movie in 1981,i was 11.I distinictly remember when entering the cinema theatre in Adis Ababa,Ethiopia..people were coming out in tears..literally not one or two but 99% of them.I ended up feeling sad and cried for most parts of the movie,and was glad in a way ,when the movie ended.

I'm 35 years old and I only watched 2 scenes from this movie. The end and the jail scene where Champ tells his kid that he is a pain in the ass.
I cry just thinking about those scenes. I will try and find this movie but I know that when I watch it I will cry like an old woman.

I'm 45 now. Just cried in two movies in all my life so far: this one and Color Purple.

I cried - OMG !!! THE LAST SCENE , I MEAN !! I'M 19 FRICKIN YEARS OLD !! AND MY UNCLES AND DAD WAS SITTING BESIDE ME , AND I LET OUT A TEAR OR TWO !!
iF i ever have a son, i'd watch this movie first thing after his birth. and ofcourse show it to him when he grows up.
One of the best tearjerkers ever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
