Man of man is this film dated. The cast is Hollywood has beens with a few exceptions. The "special effects" are so bad but typical of the time period.
The acting is just as bad. The plot moved slower than a snail.

Typical? This film came out 2 years after
Star Wars
and
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
.
"Yes I understand you, I'm Leonard Nimoy."

I knew that too. Derrick Meddings once said that he launched his shuttle before NASA launched theirs. (LOL!)

Just a point about Moonraker, Cubby Broccoli the producer had intended the premiere of Moonraker to co-inside with the first Shuttle launch but NASA had to delay it by two years!

"The "special effects" are so bad but typical of the time period."
ErNot true actually. I saw Moonraker at the cinema in 1979, and the effects in that film were done cheaply, but looked excellent! They still do, and hold up today because they help to tell the story. The main problem with Meteor I reckon, was that most of the budget went on paying for the big name stars.
Incidentally, Moonraker's space shuttle launched 2 years before the real one. How's that for prophecy?
And BTW, what about the effects in ST TMP?

The movie was dated when it first came out. There were TV movies in the 70's with better special effects. I'm one of the unfortunate few who actually paid to see it.

When the Russian's launched their missiles they all launched at the exact same time and flew virtually side by side through space without wavering even slightly.
Seems like, for many reasons, you wouldn't be able to actually simultaneously launch that many missiles from the same launcher device and expect them to fly just so. Especially not in 1979.
