Not all actors
crave the spotlight, after initially acting mainstream. Look at Lou Diamond Phillips after the 80's.
It's time to start winding this thing down.

"extremely!" He'd be hard pushed to melt a popsicle in his mouth. At any rate, he did play cold, cool and calculated quite well in
Wes Craven's Chiller - '85
.

Not everyone makes it to the top. I thought Xanadu was a lousy movie. He kept working in films and tv but Warriors was his biggest film.
I was absolutely electrified the first time I saw Warriors. The whole cast was great, the gangs were super with the makeup and costumes (baseball!). Great, great music. And that chick gang OMG. Deborah Van Valkenburgh was so good, her speech about her crummy life was so realistic.
And Michael Beck was perfect as Swann. Even if he never became a big star, nobody who has seen Warriors will ever forget him.

I liked him in WARLORDS OF THE 21st CENTURY, but it IS B-rate. Never saw XANADU.

Whatever charisma he had, really didn't work for me and he wasn't exactly a handsome looking fellow.
He was fine in
The Warriors
, which contained a lot of colorful characters, yet he was terribly miscast alongside ONJ in
Xanadu
. Beck is the worst thing about that movie, the rest is quite magical and whimsical fun with a real top-notch soundtrack.
Norman! What did you put in my tea?

Really thought he'd have become a big star but life is life I guess.
