The orangutan playing Clyde was not billed in the movie's credits as Manis had been for "Every Which Way But Loose". A replacement had to be found for Manis as he had grown too much in the two years since the first film. The orangutan who played Clyde in this film was found dead of a cerebral hemorrhage two weeks after the film wrapped.

Yep, it was another orang-utan in the sequel. In the first one it was a bloke called Manis. Its a shame the new one isn't credited, of course.

Maybe it was a different ape. Or a couple of different apes playing the same one. They sometimes tend to look a lot similar. But still, no reason why they shouldn't credit the Apes even if they were multiple.
