That’s EXACTLY why.

She isn't the best actress around, but I find the scenes with Allen and Franz are some of the best parts of the film. They are amusing and it balances out the heavy handed sleaze of the film's theme.
She does give a terrible and embarrassing performance in De Palma's
Blow Out
the following year. She almost ruins the film and I'd say part of the film's box office failure is due to Allen being cast.

I've never been impressed with Nancy Allen's acting in pretty much any of her movies.
Nevertheless, I think she's an appealing presence in films.

I would say her biggest film was De Palma's BLOW OUT-81', with Travolta. She gave an awful performance here and would rather watch her in DTK.

I thought she was terrific. Obviously girls that look like Allen don't have to Hook. She was kind of goofy and business-like at the same time. Yes we know why she got the part but this is a case where others woulnd't have done better with the part.
