This is obviously a film that should never be defiled by the remake treatment, but I can't help imagine who'd be good to fill the shoes of the amazing actors in this film, my ideal case would be:
Sharon Stone- Kate Miller
Pierce Brosnan- Robert Elliot
Taisa Farmiga- Liz Blake

She is likely too old to play Kate, but I think Meryl Streep would otherwise be a good choice to play her.
