I love this film and always have - save for one sequence: the ending. It's not so much its wanting to end with a final scare that bothers me as much as the way it's executed, considering it too closely echoes Carrie.

Although I do agree it is close to Carrie, this movie was much more frightening throughout, which changes the whole feel of the ending as well. When Carrie ends it feels over, everything is done. When her hand comes out it scared the crap out of people. If you made it to the end of Dressed To Kill, you were most likely scared at least a few times. So even though this was similar, he did amp it up and make us believe it was real this time.

I also thought the ending was too similar to "Carrie". That part where all the inmates start getting excited when Dr. Elliot strangles the nurse to escape is really creepy, but the "it was all a dream" thing sort of took away the thrill a little bit. There was just too much that happened at the end for the dream explanation to be comfortable. It was a cheat in order to get another couple of murders into the film.
