Because the Trivia says the actors would 'derisively' refer to the daily training they had to undertake as going to Cimino camp, this is a link to the documentary Final Cut: The Making and Unmaking of Heaven's Gate. At 6:55, Jeff Bridges says 'He created something that we fondly called "Camp Cimino"'
As in the 2001 BBC documentary on Bridges for the BBC, he makes clear that he had a great time doing all this stuff.

it appears Bridges and Kristofferson have taken a very gracious stance on HG after it bashed but I believe there are other actors in Final Cut (Brad Dourif?) that described Camp Cimino is less than glowing terms. You gotta admit, extensive daily training on how to shoot a gun with blanks is overkill.

Willem Dafoe was an extra and actually fired by Cimino.
He tells the story in some interview.

That might be another interview - Dafoe is just the narrator of Final Cut

I believe in that same doc Wilem Dafoe staunchly defends the picture and even some of the often criticized events in production like "Camp Cimino". He seems quite proud of his work in it, even though he only had a bit part, and wasn't even credited.
