<p dir="auto">yes,it captures somewhat the essence of what noir is all about and,also,the Bogart persona.<br />
One derives great pleasure from this and bathes in its aura.<br />
some may not get this factor,but not all have the same taste in art,which makes it selective and tasty-but,never elitist.</p>

<p dir="auto">I agree, this movie is great. Being a kid who grew up watching every film noir and Bogart film on TV in the 60's and 70's (these were the days when they actually showed great old movies on TV instead of reality-crap) this movie was a real treat. Great actors, good story and so much nostalgia. I first saw it back in the 80's and I've loved it every since.</p>
