If an average human had Superman's strength, an aircraft would only weigh 50 lbs. That being said, a bus should only weigh about 3 lbs to Superman. Come on now.

Pick Pick Pick Pick Pick
You must have a really sad life, if things like this bother you so much.
But if it really means that much to you
I've heard that in the Comics, Superman could blow out a Star with his superbreath. This Superman wasn't that powerful. Did you ever see the Incredible Hulk TV series starring Bill Bixby & Lou Ferrigno? Their Hulk was no where near as powerful as what he was in the comics. Every version of a superhero story is different, for whatever reasons
Yes, when I think about it, that bus, should not have been a big deal to even Christopher Reeve's Superman.
But, I guess the director and producers needed a moment for Superman to be out of the way, so the Villains could "blow" Metropolis apart And sadly, that weak reason is what they came up with it.
Personally, I found that cellophane Supershield thing used on Non to be more of an issue for me, but to each his own
But this movie was made 37 years ago. What's done is done. Worrying about it now will just give me a headache. So when I see it, I just shake my head at it and move on
There are still plenty of interesting parts of the movie to focus on, and enjoy!

Maybe he took it easy on the bus because of all the people on it?
