One of the funniest in Love Thy Neighbor, with the hilarious opening scene where Nell is yelling at the neighbor's dog to calling the neighbor and blowing her whistle and the Chief runs in thinking Nell is in trouble.

My VERY FAVORITE ep of this show was episode 19 of Season Six,"Joey's Hero", in which Paul Williams plays "Captain Jerk", the star of a local kids television program. When Joey learns that he's been hospitalized and needs a blood transfusion, he talks Neil into doing it. Later, however, he finds out that "Captain Jerk" really IS a JERK, for, it seems the man's not only a bigoted racist, but a White Supremist as well. LOVED it when Nell, after she's found it out, tells him that "Mickey Mouse" is black also. The expression on the fellows face it PRICELESS when he says, with surprise and disqust:
"Yes, he IS!!"
or something like that. Bet they picked Williams for the part as he seems to be one of the MOST unlikely people to fall into that catagory.

I'm about the same age and all I remember about Andy Gibb was that he sometimes hosted Solid Gold and then he died.
My favorite episode is when she goes out to a club with her tall skinny friend. Not Addy, her smart friend, but The one who was really dumb and had that hilarious baby voice. I don't remember any zinger lines but I was like 12 years old and I thought that voice was hilarious. God what was her name? I definitely remember her in several episodes.
No dessert Jerri. Don't touch the dog. DON'T rub your feces on the lamp shade.

I personally liked the Andy Gibb episode. If memory serves me correctly, it aired in or around 1984 or 85. I'm from the midwest, and I was 16 in 1985. I honestly don't remember Andy Gibb being 'cool' back then. Perhaps in some parts of the country he was still all the rage.
I liked how Julie defied authority and snuck out to see Andy Gibb. She fell asleep outside his hotel room door. I don't remember what happened after that.
Why did the calliope crash to the ground? Was it blinded by the light?

Just saw that episode again on youtube and loved it when she told Swackhammer B. Jackhammer that "But your mommy and daddy did!" when he replies, "Well, I never!" There is also an in-joke here. Simpson and Swackhammer both appeared on Jeffersons. Simpson did an episode where he was Morgan Kingsley, a social columnist and he told George that Whittendale, played by Mr. Swackhammer, hates George's guts. Another good moment was when Ray Parker Jr. guest starred and everyone went beep over him. Where is he now, might I ask?

I really enjoyed that episode too. I guess my true favorite though has to be "Do Or Diet" where Nell's obesity group meets at the house. The song they sang to welcome new members was really funny, especially when they mistook the Chief for a new recruit.
My other favorite would be anything Grandpa Kanisky was in, especially the "Grandpa's Visit" episode. His senile wit was really hilarious:
E.G.:
Maxine: I used to be a hooker.
Grandpa: You worked in a rug factory.
Maxine, No Mr. Kanisky, I used to be a prostitute.
Grandpa: I always wanted Carl to take up the trade.
Chief: I don't think you heard her right.
Chief: It's time you and I had a father/ son talk.
Grandpa: You already have three children, Carl, there's nothing left for me to tell you.
Chief: You can stay in Nell's room.
Grandpa: I can't sleep in Nell's bed, she might roll over on top of me.
Grandpa: Everybody leaving? Oh, I must have dozed off in the john and missed dinner.
I have the season I and II DVDs and really enjoy watching those shows. I was always a fan, ever since it premiered back in 1981.
They survived the impossibleby doing the unthinkable.
