My friend in America said a few weeks back there was a showing of GOT/Battle Beyond The Stars on the Shout Channel with an Alec Gillis interview mixed up in it. It would break every 15 mins to add the interview he said. Does anyone watch it or have a recoding? He said there’s was one segment referring to the maggot rape.
“The maggot was a Roger Corman thing. I remember hearing about the scene and said No, they’re not going to do that. They’re not going to do that to an actress. They’re not going to have a big expulsion of matter. Then they did it and Roger was correct, it was the main scene everyone remembers and talks about. It was the chest buster scene from Alien but less tasteful.
I always heard about they wanted to do an inflated belly on Dameia to show the worm filling her with semen. The actress said no to a body casting and it was pushing some boundaries. Interesting if they wanted her stomach to explode. It pushes it closer to soomething like the kill in Forbidden World.

Not sure what he means by "expulsion of matter", unless it means she was supposed to explode from the inside out. There are cuts at the end when she's a zombie that shows blood on her face, which doesn't make a lot of sense in the context of the movie. There are other cuts without blood on her face, so the whole thing is kind of confusing. It doesn't got into enough detail in the clip linked above.
