One of my all-time favorite Alien variants from the early 1980's. Very well done considering the modest $700,000 dollar budget. 9 out of 10 from me.

Well a lot of people don't understand the end of the movie, but the Ray Walston character explains it to Edward Albert. The pyramid is some sort of alien training device. They trick people into going into it in order to search for a Supreme Planet Master. In order to survive this task you have to fast your deepest fear come to life. Unfortunately the majority of people do not survive the test.
The movie and novel Sphere pretty much ripped this concept off.
Yeah the giant worm was pretty well done, both the full scale animatronic thing and the stop motion version.
I also like whatever that big headed alien thing that killed Zalman King's character, that one was pretty creepy and you didn't even see much of it!!

It's not bad, but I've seen worst. Sure ,the ending never made sense and the characters were dumb as a bulb, but the f/x and set production looks great. That and that amorous little worm. lol

I honestly didn't think that the movie was actually bad. It was just low budget and they did a hell of a job with the little money they had. It looked like it was done on a higher budget. Unfortunately some of the actors were not up to par. I did like Zalman King, Grace Zabrisky, Erin Moran & Sid Haig.
