I saw this thirty one years ago and my memory has faded a lot plus I was a child at the time (8 years old) and things look different to them. According to the description here they encounter Wholly Mammoths and Sabre Toothed tigers. CGI did not exist back then, so how the hell could such animals be made to look even remotely real? Was it claymation like King Kong or the old dinosaur movies? Did they take an elephant and use makeup to make it look like a mammoth?

That's good news! I'll have to add this to my Netflix list. I'd love to see it again after all these years.
EDIT: I checked. It's not only on disc, but is available as a streaming movie right now.

Too bad it's never gotten a DVD or Blu-ray release so I could watch it again.
UMMMM, Netflix has it on DVD, or you can buy one elsewhere. Just search.

Too bad it's never gotten a DVD or Blu-ray release so I could watch it again. I saw it when it came out, and maybe a few years later on HBO or something. Have not seen this movie in probably 25 years now. I do remember that everything was very well done and had a highly realistic look to it. For a movie that had no real dialogue in it, it really held your interest.
