The scene where Michael Myers is about to kill the dog with a bloody knife is then intercut with Annie, Laurie, and Sheriff Brackett preparing dinner. Then as Michael takes a bite of the dog, it is intercut with Bracket taking a bite of his meaty pizza. To add, Annie ordered a vegan pizza on "whole-wheat." Bracket forgets the whole wheat (because he doesn't like it) and then explains humans were meant to eat meat.
Then, Michael takes a big bite of the dog entrails which is quickly intercut with Laurie taking a bite of the pizza - to which she starts gagging and runs in the loo to throw up, as if she were the one eating the innards.
The intercuts are placed there so we associate the family dinner with eating the dog so we subconsciously feel ill or feel we're eating a dog when eating animals.
Sneaky Rob Zombie!

Sneaky Rob Zombie!
Or more like an unoriginal hack who, somehow, makes some people believe that his movies are clever and innovative. In reality, his movies are simply trashy, despicable and, so far, imo, never created a single likable character, since most of them all have this unpleasant "hillbilly" attitude.
Honestly, how some people can consider him in the same vein as John Carpenter, Wes Craven or David Cronenberg is beyond me. Damn, Eli Roth is 100 times better than him. Hostel is an underrated horror gem; it builds tension so effectively and progressively, and like many horror classics, most of the real suspense isn't in what you see, but rather in what you don't.
Rob Zombie, on another hand, all his movies leave pretty much the same impression: they are of bad taste, are filled with unnecessarily cruel violence (don't even start on how I supposedly "missed the purpose"), have despicable characters which don't have much evolution but rather they become even worse, such pretentious and repetitive dialogues (for instance in The Devil's Rejects: yeah, I get it, you are all scum and come from hell and blah-blah-blah, I don't feel like what they say really develop anything, other than making me wish they all die more and more), etc.
And, honestly, his Halloween remakes are one of the biggest insults to not only the original movie (and even the sequel which is still 100 times better than this trash), but to the horror genre as whole.
Are they even remotely scary? Not at all, and even my easily scared girlfriend thought they are lame. Does it add something relevant to the story? Okay, I must admit, I did like the scene when Malcolm McDowell's character first appeared, showed the pictures of tortured animals by Michael and said how this is "usually an early sign of more serious problems"; this might be the only element in the whole movie that I enjoyed, since it gave Myers's character a more psychological background. Otherwise, no new elements that I feel like we needed. As for the second Zombie's Halloween, total garbage.
So, leave Halloween II (1981) alone and don't bring Rob Zombie's failed attempt at giving it a "fresher" touch. As flawed as this sequel is, it's highly better than Zombie's unnecessary movie.
