You've got to be a hardcore horror fan to appreciate it, anyone else would think it irredeemable trash.

i also bought this dvd. i liked it a lot and thought it was just harmless fun. it can't be taken seriously though i think that's what the director had in mind. the film was made back in the eighties when the zombie/cannibal flicks were very popular and film companies were churning them out by the dozens. i thought the gore effects were really good considering the decade it came out in and there were no computer generated gore like we have today on film. the dubbing is funny and i liked how the director inserted footage from national geographic nature film for a more realistic feel. i recommend this film if you're into zombie/cannibal flicks and have a couple hours to kill.

-MILD SPOILERS-
this is definitely a classic, in a way, with some seriously funny unintentional comedy (HOPE center and rat). having Goblin soundtrack the movie helped out quite a bit to bring that kind of feel and grit.
all in all it is a pretty terrible movie, but there is spot in anyones heart for it, who is fond of these types of B-grade Italian horror movies. margit evelyn newton also graced us with her nearly perfect birthday suit. gotta go
