Seriously? Yes, Outland has its flaws but overall this is a good film.

For 1981 this movie is a 8 out of 10. I never saw it until tonight, its kinda good even for today. There is few flaws , like how the leader of the cops was killed and they just glossed over it. The acting is quite good and I think it was very well made. I especially liked the early techno music. Also how everyone looked at him like he was a dead man walking. Even most of his police didn't have his back. Its like 1 good cop verses everyone. I guess he did have the doctor Lazarus for support, I especially liked her character.

The biggest problem with this movie is that the whole "mystery" is made clear too early in, which completely killed all the suspense and made second half of the movie very boring. I gave it 4/10

Obviously it is a movie over thirty years old. And that might be more of a drawback when it comes to futuristic movies than it would be, say, a historical drama given the advances in special effects. At the same time, I still think it is a darn great flick. On a similar note, still prize James Caan's Roller Ball despite a similar dynamic.

Liked it when I was youngertoday I notice all of the failings in the realistic detalis and that lower my rating by farthis is not a good film anymore, its a nostalgic cult movie but in all honestyIts not a great filmits just mediocre.
~If the realistic details fails, the movie fails~

It's an OK film but nothing original and it hasn't aged that well. It would work better as a western - a High Noon remake/ripoff/homage (delete as appropriate).

I'd have it at an 8.5, but hard to argue with the collective voice of all those other thousands of voters. Maybe it just didn't hit right with some.
