Underrated little shocker from the underrated Joe Zito.
I just saw Sly's Rambo and was wondering, there isn't much seperating his kind of soldier from the deranged WWII vet in The Prowler. If they do a remake, it'd be cool to explore that parallel.
Like the old saying goes, "If you kill a few men you're a murderer, if you kill thousands you're a war hero"
The vet could be some deranged Vietnam/Gulf War vet with delusions of Reaganism!

I'm sick of remakes and am usually against them on principle, but this is where I would make an exception; if this was remake they could add things not in the original like pacing and editing and complete story. I'd say it has potential.

Due for a remake? Why would you want to encourage Hollywood to be devoid of any creativity and remake yet another slasher/horror from the Eighties?
Especially slasher from the 80s which still holds up. Have you seen it lately? Those FX still look quite realistic and brutal. So yeah, I am with you here, there's no need for remake. Let them "throw" something original for a change, or at least, make something that's already seen, but threat it with more care. (khmm, like Wan treated "The Conjuring?")
If it is remade then almost certainly it won't be very good going by the recent offerings and will be hated by almost everybody (especially by the original's fans) just like The Fog and Black Christmas. Then you'll have everyone saying that there should never have been a remake!
well those don't suck because they are remakes. They suck because they are terrible movies.

Rambo is nothing like the Prowler. The Prowler goes on a killing spree all because it's the anniversary of when he killed his girl that sent him a Dear John. Rambo only kills bad guys. He doesn't kill innocent people or women for that matter. Rambo was a little unbalanced from the war, but not a homicidal maniac.

Due for a remake? Why would you want to encourage Hollywood to be devoid of any creativity and remake yet another slasher/horror from the Eighties? There have been so many over the last 5 years - some good, most terrible - that I cannot understand why these boards are full of people looking for remakes of films that were absolutely fine as they were first time around!

Aren't there enough remakes of classics? I don't understand, if it's not broke why fix it? As far as Michael Bay goes, he can lick my oil covered boots. That numbskull should wise up and put in his papers. He wants to work with movies, fine, he can work at a video store.
On a seperate note, as much as hate the idea of classics being remade, there have been some that I have been impressed with. Those being:
John Carpenter's THE THING
Martin Scorsese's CAPE FEAR
Alexandre Aja's THE HILLS HAVE EYES
Tobe Hooper's TOOLBOX MURDERS
As far as others go, what a waste.
