<p dir="auto">It's been a while since I've seen this so I could be wrong but at one point Moreland was acting like he wanted to throw in the towel but felt uneasy about it and someone suggested that he "claim victory in the field", I'm guessing to save face.<br />
What exactly is claiming victory in the field? It seems I've heard it elsewhere but a couple fast searches didn't seem to surface anything that would be relevant in this context.</p>

I don't recall that line, and I don't think it makes any sense, considering the situation. Are you sure it wasn't a different phrase?<br />
